What makes a shifter kart engine different from other kart engines?
Shifter kart engines have a gearbox allowing multiple gears, which provides better acceleration and top speed compared to single-speed engines. Also. in most cases shifter karts have "4-wheel' braking allowing for the limits to be pushed further.
How often should I service my shifter kart engine?
Regular maintenance is key. But the maintenacne on a FZ SHIFTER is pretty simple and not that involved. Fresh oil every 5 hours in the transmission and taking good care of your cooling system will give you over 20 hours of use before any necessary maintenace is required.
Can I use the same engine for different racing styles?
FZ SHIFTER is designed to compete in its spec category, but can also be used in competitions that allow multiple shifter engine makes. Check your local track or series promoter for more information.
What fuel type is best for shifter kart engines?
Most shifter kart engines run on high-octane gasoline or racing fuel. For FZ SHIFTER we recommed a higher octane fuel as found in our user manual, however some of our enthusiasts use a lower octane fuel and experience solid performance for their specific application.
How do I improve engine performance safely?
Honestly, the engine is so robust and spec that the main improvement you will make is in your driving and chassis tuning, not engine tuning. We recommend you spend resources on driver training and working with your favorite chassis manufacture to get the right setup and parts:)
