FZ Shifter provides a high-performance shifter kart experience with an unmatched low cost of ownership. Our engines, ranging from the FZ 65 to the FZ 125, are designed to make high-level kart racing accessible to more people.
Why race a shifter kart?
Shifter karts offer an exhilarating experience unlike any other motorsport. With manual gear shifting, four-wheel brakes, and the ability to go from 0 to 60 mph in just three seconds, they are incredibly fun to drive and provide one of the fastest experiences you can have on a track.
How cost-effective is the FZ platform?
We understand that all motorsports have associated costs, but the FZ Shifter platform is designed to minimize them. You can expect to get 25-35 hours on a top-end rebuild and 50-100 hours on a bottom-end rebuild. Because our Nikasil cylinders don't require re-boring, a top-end rebuild only requires replacement parts, saving you on labor costs.
Is FZ Shifter trying to replace KZ engines?
No, not at all. KZ engines are designed for professional racers at the pinnacle of the sport. The FZ Shifter program is designed for everyone—from new racers to seasoned drivers—allowing you to experience the thrill of shifter kart racing before moving up to the pro-level KZ class.
How does the engine lease program work?
Our leasing program makes it simple to get started. Similar to leasing a car, you can get a brand-new FZ Shifter engine package with a monthly payment under $300. At the end of your term, you have the option to buy out the engine and own it. This program lets you start racing now instead of waiting and saving up.
Where can I race an FZ Shifter?
FZ Shifter engines are currently welcomed at nearly any club's "open shifter" program. We're proud to be part of the iconic Superkarts USA! (SKUSA) program, where you can also race with us. Stay tuned for our exciting 2026 racing calendar!
